Pitch Perfect Sound Captured By DPA Mics

Pitch Perfect Sound Captured By DPA Mics, according to Laszlo Takacs who is one of Hungary’s most respected sound engineers. He prides himself in capturing and delivering pristine audio quality to his clients’ music projects.
Taki used a variety of microphones to create Turnebusz, a music-based television series. These included 4099 CORE Instrument microphones, 2011C TwinDiaphragm Cardioid mics, and 2028 vocal mics from DPA.

Taki has been a sound engineer/sound technician for more than 25 years and has worked with many large Hungarian productions. Taki began using DPA mics for various live concerts, rock, pop, and folk events in 2015.

Turnebusz was created during the pandemic in order to meet a need for recording concerts for Hungarian bands who did not have many opportunities to perform or appear on media. Turnebusz was similar to other music documentary-style shows. Each episode consisted of a 45 minute performance followed by a 15 minute get-to know segment that focuses exclusively on emerging artists, writers, and lyricists.

Taki stated that there were 26 acts in the show and it was necessary to use versatile microphones with excellent sound quality. These microphones have the best sound quality because I’m familiar with DPA. These microphones also perform well in extreme conditions so I chose them as my choice for this project. We used the DPA2028 microphones for vocalists. This allowed us to reduce any unwanted, intrusive noise. Although not the most common application, we also used many 2028 mic capsules to power guitar amps. It is one of my favourite microphones and works well even under high sound pressure.

Taki used DPA’s 4099 CORE Microphones extensively during the recording of the concert series.

Taki said: “With so many sounds–from very light pop to very heavy rock–the flexibility and versatility of the 4099 Core was crucial in capturing all levels of sound without any problems. The 4099 CORE was upgraded to reduce distortion and add clarity and openness. It was crucial to the success of the project.”

The DPA’s 4099CORE is already a standard in instrument miking. It brings more clarity to music across the whole dynamic range.

Taki concluded that DPA microphones are the best-quality mic solutions. DPA microphones are renowned for their precision and high manufacturing quality. DPA Masters Club, DPA factory and Bluesound, DPA representative in Hungary for their assistance. “My DPA microphones sound amazing, and I’m looking forward to using them in as many projects as possible.”
